“You have changed”
“You’re not the same person I used to know”
“Now you’re just somebody that I used to know”
Those lines that we used to hear in each critical conflict between couple, bestfriend, or I should said in a dramatical situation.
Sometimes, change could be a big challenge, that you have to sacrifice something important in your life, saying yes to one thing that means no to many things, standing on the different perspective of your life. If we looked into how a person that totally out of shape of his body could turned into a deadly strong and shaped one. How? Sacrifice. He sacrifice his time, fatigue, he conquered himself to be a better one. He believed that
you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. He believed in progress, that everything has a process. The more he trained, the bigger progressed he will received. Train makes progress, progress makes perfect.
The more you open your mind, the more often you change your perspective about the world, the more often you’ll change and be better.
Simply, we realized it or not, as long as we lived, we always changed. Each day, we get new information and experience. The more informations and experiences that come to us, the bigger impacts and changes will it be. Our mind, and our way of thinking change dinamically as we know about new things, new perspective, or something that we never even know before. It simply means that your mind is growing up, just like the man who build his body, he wouldn’t get it in spontan, but he gets a progress. Our mind did the same thing, it builds gradually, and becomes better. That’s why we never be the same person from our past. We grown up.
“We die to each other daily. What we know of other people is only our memory of the moments during which we knew them. And they have changed since then. To pretend that they and we are the same is a useful and convenient social convention which must sometimes be broken. We must also remember that at every meeting we are meeting a stranger.”― T.S. Eliot, The Cocktail Party
We change in almost every moment in our lives. The same person that talked to you in yesterday night might be already change in this morning, and either you are. We change through a pain, happiness, or only a conversation. It could be anything. Media also one of a big agent of change.
Sometimes, the trouble is that we made a label to someone only from one perspective. A perspective that usually born from a first impression or something that someone showed to us. We must remember that people only showed to us some of their side. We never know one person as a whole. They only presented what they need to present. We could talked all night long to a person when we have something in common. As example, when you hang out and found a person that has a passion on football, just like you, you’ll enjoy talk to them. What you know about them, are what they showed to you. We only could see a little side of every single people. But we made a label about them as their whole character on how they present themselves to ‘us’ on one moment, or time and space. We forget that we only knew a pieces of them, and we forget how fast people are changing.
You could not step twice into the same river. -Heraclitus
You cannot step twice into the same river; for other waters are continually flowing in.
You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you.
You cannot step twice into the same stream. For as you are stepping in, other waters are ever flowing on to you.
You cannot step twice into the same river.
You cannot step into the same river twice.
It is impossible to step into the same river twice.
No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.
